This Osmio Fluoride Reduction Filter 4.5″ x 10″ Inch can be used in conjunction with any single or dual Osmio Housing System or any filtration system that uses 4.5″ x 10″ filters, so most standard housings. The cartridge uses Bone Char media designed to reduce fluoride levels. This cartridge is perfect for those who are concerned about their levels of fluoride intake and want to reduce this toxin from tap water.
Unfortunately we cannot say precisely what percentage is removed from your water as the removal efficiency will depend on temperature, pH, water quality, flow rate, and concentration of suspended solids. However, the cartridge has an absorption capacity of 10 mg fluoride/g or 500mg/l so under optimal conditions may be fully effective at removing all the fluoride compounds.
We would recommend the cartridge should be changed every 6 months (or 10000 gallons) whichever comes first.

Filter Cartridges, utilizing media are designed primarily to reduce fluoride levels. Bone Char is currently one of the most effective method of extracting Fluoride from water. It features Bone Char and is produced by a careful controlled heating to over 1,200 Farenheit to produce a media which is mainly made up of Tricalcium Phosphate: A bone char water filter is effective at removing fluoride because of the tricalcium phosphate. Found in bone charcoal is called hydroxyapatite, which includes a hydroxide ion. Because of the way the molecule is structured, this ion is easily replaced by fluoride. In simple terms, when water that contains fluoride is filtered to the bone char, the fluoride ions are swapped for the hydroxide ions and removed. This treatment is incredibly effective, often reaching removal rates of 90% of fluoride from water.
