Over time quartz sleeves may become dirty as a result of limescale residue or due to high levels of iron or manganese in the water. If your glass tube gets dirty or becomes cracked over time it is important to either clean it or replace the glass tube with a new one to ensure the efficiency of the sterilisation process.
